Starting the Year on a 'Mindful Foot
Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning unity or oneness. While many do yoga as a form of exercise, it is also meditation, introspection, a calming of the mind and body. It has countless health benefits including stress reduction, flexibility, strengthening, muscle toning and better breathing.
Steaz has a history with yoga through Eric, the company co-founder, who grew up in a house with a designated room for yoga and meditation. He does a family yoga class with his children and his two sisters are certified yoga instructors. So the Steaz brand aligns naturally with many of yogas key principals; mindfulness, awareness of ourselves and our role and responsibility within our world, living well and on purpose.
Last week the company held its first Steaz Yoga Party, inviting Boston moms to start the year of on a 'mindful foot,' as cleverly tagged by our event host, Christine Koh, a writer, designer and mom blogger extraordinaire. The ladies ranged from beginners to experienced yogis, some with kids in tow or in their bellies!

Sharon Koh, the certified yoga instructor (and sister to Christine), calmly and effortlessly led the mixed crowd through a challenging yet invigorating class. At the end, most of the ladies were so relaxed and feeling good that it was tough to get up off their mats. But they did have some motivation....Steaz!
After rolling up their mats, the ladies made their way toward the refreshments, enjoying SteazIced Teaz and Zero Calorie drinks, some light snacks and good conversation. A few lucky winners received Steaz yoga mats and the ladies went home feeling invigorated and with a bag full o' swag including a fair-trade chocolate bar, oatmeal soap and of course, a four pack of Steaz.
So if you're looking for a way to settle all those thoughts running around in your brain, or you want a new take on exercise, why not check out yoga? And remember to breathe. Oxygen is one of the best 'drinks' on earth for your mind, body and soul.
Steaz gives thanks to Christine, Sharon and also to Isis Maternity for the use of their charming facility. Check out more photos of the event on Facebook.
